Whether you are having a baby of your own or looking for a great gift for a loved one or friend, trying to determine what your baby needs in the plethora of options out there is extremely overwhelming.
Enter the Ultimate Baby Registry Guide.
From must-haves to cute and fun extras, there are a lot of options and my two cents about every item is included. All of these products are ones I have personally used and loved. Many of which I have recommended to friends + family and they love each equally as much.
Aden + Anais Swaddle Blankets – I’m slightly embarrassed to say how many we own….but that just proves how much I love them! Learn to swaddle baby in a breathable fabric that keeps them just the right temperature and asleep for more than 5 mins. During the first 6-8 weeks Jackson lived in these blankets during the day. I’d swaddle him and his arms in that burrito like bundle and it would be lights out after a few minutes of rocking. As baby grows they continue to prove a solid staple in my baby gear bag from a lightweight blanket in the carseat to a nursing cover or floor blanket in a pinch.
Halo Swaddle Sleep Sacks – A happy, swaddled and asleep throughout the night baby is every Mother’s dream. I love the Aden blankets but these sleep sacks don’t come undone thanks to the velcro flaps that keep baby’s arms folded across their chest. Of course we do have a little houdini on our hands, so fists and arms did magically make their way out some nights. But by the sound of his little grunts on the monitor, I could go in place his arms back inside the swaddle and put him back to dreamland.
Love to Dream Sleep Sack You are probably thinking seriously another style sleep sack? What gives? Well when baby turns into a little houdini getting those arms out in the middle of the night you will thank me for having this little number in your back
Zoli Buzz B Nail Trimmer – Oh the thoughts of picturing this perfectly still little baby that will let you cut their nails doesn’t exist. I was insane to think he would tolerate sitting still for me to clip his nails. Enter one of the greatest baby inventions…an electric nail file for babies. Trust me you will want this at the top of your wish list!
Milk Snob Covers – Keeping baby out of the elements (wind/rain/snow/sun) and looking good while doing it. Plus it doubles as a breastfeeding and shopping cart cover. Win-win!
Ju-Ju-Be Diaper Bag Backpack – Skip all of those shoulder bags and invest in the diaper bag backpack.
Every time you bend over to pick something up that baby has tossed on the ground for the millionth time. That shoulder bag goes swinging and falling down, you will curse yourself for not going this route. I learned the hard way, but will never look back!
MAM Pacifiers – Jackson wouldn’t take those Soothie pacis from the hospital so we had to try a different route. Luckily I had received a MAM infant pacifier in one of the store gift bags for creating a registry and it worked! He loved them and that meant Daddy ran out to the store to pick them up immediately. Oh the horror if we would have lost the only one we had! Ps. these come in a night time/glow in the dark version, that will save you from even more grey hairs in the middle of the night when you can’t find it in the crib. Which seems ginormous at 230 in the morning! Added bonus! They come in an awesome case that allows you to santize them in the microwave with just water. Genius!!
Medela Pump In Style Double Electric Pump – I received mine through insurance via the Target Breast Pump Program (<— I highly recommend using this service as they take care of all the annoying paperwork and navigating the labyrinth of complicated insurance policies). It’s small enough to toss in the diaper bag when traveling, but still works extremely well. I exclusively pumped for 6 months and this pump was perfect!
Medela Nursing Bra – Hands free pumping in half the time. Because I could pump both sides at the same time, I never spent more than 20 minutes at each session.
Lansinoh Nursing Pads – I have to thank my sister-in-law for recommending these, they are much more comfortable and absorbent than the Medela ones I was using previously. And buy the big bulk box, better to have too many than not enough especially in those first couple of weeks when your body is figuring out your supply.
Boppy Nursing Pillow – Not only does it make feeding your little one so much easier and more comfortable, but you can use it later on to help with tummy time and sitting up assisted.
Babies’R Us Milk Storage Bags – **Note that Babies’R Us have changed their bags and I no longer recommend the new version. Since I’m not breastfeeding anymore I’ll have to find a new style/brand with baby #2 (I’d love some recommendations too!). I’ve heard good things about the Target Up & Up version, but cannot personally speak about them just yet.** Save yourself some pretty pennies and buy these ultra-inexpensive storage bags. They have a double seal to ensure your precious milk will not spill or leak. And they are very easy to open and pour once you are ready to use the milk.
Bag Balm Nipple Ointment – for the chapped girls
Target Nursing Bras + Tanks – Soft, comfortable, functional and relatively inexpensive.
S’well Bottle – Invest in a good large-sized water bottle. It will be attached to you as you are nursing/pumping. The key to a good milk supply is a healthy diet and a TON of water! S’well bottles keep your water cold/coffee hot forever and they never leak!
Toys & Activities:
Sophie the Giraffe – Oh what would we do without Sophie?! She’s a toy, a teether, and cuddle friend all in one.
Baby Einstein Take Along Tunes – Lights and music. The key to a happy baby.
O-Ball – Easy to hold and fun to chew.
Sassy Ring O Links – Portable, easy to chew, and you can use them to attach other toys to your activity gym for endless fun!
Tummy Time Mirror – We love this one! As you can see, we can have fun for hours (literally!) with this one simple toy. Bonus, it can clip on the headrest in the car for travel too!
Crinkle Books – Baby may not be reading them, but they will love chewing on them and crunching between their pudgy little fingers.
Lots and Lots of Board Books – Here are some favorites: Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, The Pout-Pout Fish, Snuggle Puppy, Goodnight Moon, I Love You Goodnight, The Going to Bed Book, Barnyard Dance, and Giraffes Can’t Dance.
Bright Starts Little Taggies – Every baby loves the silky soft tags on all their toys and blankets, so this genius product has lots of them for baby entertainment and soothing. We never leave home without it!
Baby Einstein Neighborhood Symphony Jumper – Keeping babies happy, occupied and learning to bear weight on their little legs. We love the features and it was a breeze to assemble. <— Can I get an Amen on that one!
VTech Sit-to-Stand Walker – while we haven’t actually tried out this one yet, it’s been a favorite by everyone I know! Can’t wait to see how much Jackson loves it!
Mamas and Papas Snug Seat + Activity Tray – Jackson loves to sit here and play with different toys on the tray, especially the squeaker! This will be very handy once finger foods roll around and to tote along on trips since it doesn’t take up much room.
Whew! That was a long list!
