Good morning friends! We’ve spent the last week learning the immediate area, watching boats go up and down the Thames River, watched a lot of TV, and getting settled into the new place.
I’m not going to lie, this last week has been extremely tough on all of us. Ryan has been working long days in his new job. Jackson is adjusting to the new time zone and a completely new room. And I’m learning how to be a stay at home mom keeping a one year old entertained and the apartment looking somewhat reasonable.
Sounds pretty simple but it’s been a big adjustment for us all. And very stressful. But we are keeping calm and carrying on.
Trying to find a nice playground nearby has been at the top of list. Sadly, we’ve pretty much struck out at all three of our first attempts. Most of them are small, and not geared towards little kids. On the bright side, I did find a Gymboree around the corner from us that we are hoping to check out with a free trial class later this week. Fingers crossed that goes well!
Thankfully our building does have an indoor pool that is very nice and rarely used especially during the week. Jackson loves the water and has been thrilled we our couple of trips so far.
We also have a nice boardwalk along the river that we frequently walk to get out of the apartment. Jackson loves to watch the boats chug on by too.
I’m really hoping to meet some other moms with kids close in age to Jackson too. He loves to play with other kids and I could use some adult conversation!
Jackson is really getting interested in helping out in the kitchen. Every morning we make smoothies together and I really enjoy this part of our day. Teaching him the importance of eating healthy and nutritiously means a lot to me and I’m so happy to know that he enjoys it as well.
He helps me put all of the ingredients into the blender and as we do we practice the names for each. Although he isn’t repeating them back to me yet, when I say the name of one he can pick it out of the bunch. Then we blend and he smacks his little lips together waiting for his cup. We LOVE the Lollacup, and it makes the perfect smoothie drinking cup as well. He quickly gulps it down while watching Peppa Pig (his latest TV obsession) on the couch.
Let me know in the comments if you’d like the recipe too!
Christmas came early for us, and our airfreight boxes arrived this morning! I have never been so happy to see piles of boxes in my living room before! When I got the email from our moving coordinator yesterday morning I nearly fell over on the couch. We were originally told it would take 4-8 weeks from the time we submitted our application to the UK Customs Agency till our things were delivered to the apartment. Thankfully, luck was on our side and it only took three weeks in total!
The look on Jackson’s face was priceless when I began to pull out his toys from the boxes. Familiar items are big for him right now as everything else is mostly so new and different than what he is used to. To see him so happy made my whole day!
Now it’s time to finish the unpacking, while Jackson naps. Hope you all are doing well and I will chat with you again soon!
