Hello friends!! Sorry for disappearing for a bit. Adjusting to life in London has been harder than I originally anticipated and now that we are settled and getting into a groove, blogging is back on top!
Over the last month, the biggest change was Jackson having started nursery school three days a week. And it’s been the best decision we’ve made! He is much happier having a place to play and learn. We’ve seen a huge improvement in his willingness to try new things and explore. On the eating front, there isn’t much he won’t eat (at school). We’re still working on getting him to try more foods at home, but without all of his friends around to encourage him to eat it’s been going much more slowly.
On the flip side, being at nursery means more germs around and he’s already been sick twice with a stomach bug and a cold. This kid is going to have one heck of an immune system by the time he goes to primary school full time!
Out and About
We’ve definitely discovered some great places to spend time as a family. The Docklands Museum of London has a fantastic children’s area and best of all, it’s free! Now that’s music to Momma’s ears everywhere!
His favorite activity is the water table which is no surprise! He’s always been a water baby at heart.
They also have giant building blocks, a soft play climbing area, and a large table to play with trains and cargo ships in the Docklands. Thankfully it’s only a 20 minute walk from our flat and get to enjoy some fresh air along the way.
The London Zoo is another one of our favorite places, although getting there is harder since we drive to avoid the long train commute. We’ve been lucky to see a lot of animals during our visits and this past weekend definitely didn’t disappoint! Jackson loves the big cats and the king of the safari was showing off for us.
Isn’t he beautiful! I’ve honestly never seen a lion that up close before and it was quite the treat! Jackson was pointing and roaring at him and it was adorable!
One our favorite exhibits are the penguins though. They are always out and about and many of them swim right up along the glass. Why is it that penguins are so adorable?!
With Jackson’s 18 month birthday just around the corner we’ve been looking into finding some activities to get involved in over the winter. Since football (soccer) is huge over here, we’ve found a program called Little Kickers and hope to try it out soon! Jackson is very interested in kicking the ball around the flat already and I really think he will love it!
Although we haven’t had a chance to travel much yet we are putting together a bucket list of all the places we’d love to see during our stay. If any of you have travelled Europe, especially with kids I’d love to hear your recommendations and favorite places! There are so many places to potentially visit and it’s a bit overwhelming! So don’t be shy and leave a comment below!
Well time to switch back into Mommy mode and we will chat again soon!
